LITTLE ROCK - In August, cardiologist Muhammad Waqas, MD, joined the CHI St. Vincent Heart Clinic Arkansas.

As part of his work with CHI St. Vincent Heart Clinic Arkansas, Dr. Waqas will be partnering with Dr. Thurston Bauer to offer services aimed at treating patients with congestive heart failure. In addition to adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery, Dr. Waqas will be working with Dr. Bauer to build a LVAD (left ventricular assist device) program. This program is for patients with advanced heart failure who are awaiting a heart transplant. The LVAD may even be a permanent solution for patients who are not eligible for a heart transplant.
