Batesville — White River Health has announced its hospitals and facility-based services are out of network with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) for individuals with UnitedHealthcare commercial and Medicare Advantage plans. Arkansas state retirees, teachers, and patients with VA coverage are not affected by this change. This outcome follows ongoing negotiations between the two organizations.
White River Health leaders expressed disappointment that an agreement could not be reached.
“This is not the outcome we wanted,” said Steven Webb, President and CEO of White River
Health. “We are disappointed we were unable to come to terms with UnitedHealthcare on
a contract that ensures patients can continue accessing high-quality care in their
community. Our priority remains ensuring patients can get the care they need, close to
home.”
While out-of-network, patients with UnitedHealthcare coverage may experience higher out-
of-pocket costs depending on their specific plan.
White River Health emphasized that this change applies only to hospital and facility
services. White River Health physicians and professional services, such as routine
office visits and exams, remain in network with UnitedHealthcare at this time.
Patients may continue to receive care at White River Health; however, they are encouraged
to review their insurance benefits and explore options for greater affordability.
• Contact UnitedHealthcare to understand their out-of-network benefits
• Speak with their employer or HR representative, if applicable, about coverage
options
“We remain committed to our patients and to delivering compassionate, high-quality care,”
Webb added. “We are here to help our community understand their options and continue
accessing the services they need.”
