Fayetteville — Northwest Arkansas Psychiatry, a MANA Clinic, is pleased to welcome Dr. Aubrie Hanson, general psychiatry, to its team of dedicated mental healthcare providers.

Dr. Hanson’s journey in healthcare began right here in Fayetteville, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Food Science with a minor in Biology from the University of Arkansas. Before heading to medical school, she worked as an infant nutrition lab technician in the NICU at Washington Regional Medical Center.

She went on to earn her Medical Degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock. During her time there, Dr. Hanson discovered her passion for psychiatry and served on the Student Advocacy Council to support the mental and emotional well-being of her fellow medical students.

To complete her specialty training, Dr. Hanson, who grew up in Michigan prior to relocating to Arkansas during high school, headed north to the University of Michigan’s elite Psychiatry Residency Program. Over the last four years, she gained extensive experience treating patients in diverse clinical settings, including the University of Michigan Medical Center, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, and the Lieutenant Colonel Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center.

Beyond her clinical duties, she dedicated time in her final year of residency to co-facilitate her program’s “process group” for first-year psychiatry residents—nurturing a safe space to navigate the challenges of their intern year and teaching skills and topics such as mindfulness, self-compassion, and burnout.

Dr. Hanson provides comprehensive general psychiatry services to adults, ensuring patients receive evidence-based, compassionate care tailored to their unique needs.

Dr. Hanson incorporates various psychotherapy modalities into her work with patients as part of comprehensive psychiatric care and medication management. She has experience with psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, and ACT.

What makes Dr. Hanson such a perfect fit for MANA is her dedication to integrative, holistic care. With her unique background in food science, she has long championed the concept of “Food as Medicine.” She recognizes that mental health does not exist in a vacuum; it is deeply connected to nutrition, mindfulness, physical health, and everyday lifestyle habits.

“I have learned through personal and professional experience just how dynamic and complex mental health and wellness are for each individual person, especially in an increasingly complicated world,” says Dr. Hanson. “I am passionate about partnering with my patients to meet them where they are, look beyond just symptoms, and get to know them as unique individuals. I hope to help them build resilience and find relief and well-being through evidence-based psychiatric medicine, psychotherapy techniques, and lasting lifestyle changes.”

Whether you are navigating a difficult life transition, having relationship issues, managing a chronic mental health condition, or looking for a comprehensive, holistic approach to your psychiatric care, Dr. Hanson is here to walk alongside you to help you understand your thoughts and emotions, achieve your goals, and cultivate lasting symptom relief and mental wellness.
