Flakes Give Gift
Karen and John Flake recently announced gifts of $1 million to Arkansas Children's Hospital and Mount St. Mary Academy. John Flake is a real estate developer, and Karen Flake is the chief executive officer of a marketing research firm.
The $1 million gift to Children's is designated toward development of a facility in northwest Arkansas. "The hospital is currently working with medical and community leaders in northwest Arkansas to determine what pediatric services are needed and how best to provide such services," said Dr. Jonathan Bates, MD, president and CEO of Arkansas Children's Hospital. "These collaborative efforts are focused on how to best serve children and their families. This marvelous gift will help speed this work along and we certainly will need space to house those services." Mount St. Mary Academy will apply the $1 million gift to its Lasting Efforts Campaign, a long-range plan that includes endowment growth, facility renovations, and new construction. The Flake gift will be used for a project to be announced at a later date.
