Balm Innovations, a UAMS BioVentures company, unveiled its newest skin cream, Omnibalm Cucumber Melon, late in October in Little Rock. Omnibalm was originally developed by UAMS pharmaceutical researcher Dr. Bill Gurley, a Jackson, Tenn., native over 15 years ago to soothe a severe sunburn. The product can be purchased in Arkansas and also in rural West Tennessee.

"Some people didn't like the smell," Gurley said. "They thought it smelled too much like medicine. I don't how many different versions we tried and tested before we got to this one. But it was the one that everyone liked the most."
