The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc., has named Arkansas Children's Hospital Director of Infection Control Craig Gilliam a "Hero of Infection Prevention" for 2007. He is among a dozen individuals receiving the award, and each will be featured on a month of the APIC's calendar.

Gilliam's application, submitted by his pediatric section, stated that he was instrumental in the "Race for Results: Reducing Catheter-Related Bloodstream Infections through Rapid Cycle Improvements" program at Arkansas Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
