| Chambers Memorial Makes National 100 Top Hospitals List Only Arkansas Hospital on List Five Years in a Row By one measure, the top-ranked hospital in Arkansas is one many people know almost nothing about.
An annual national ranking of 100 Top Hospitals performed by Thomson Healthcare groups hospitals into five categories: Major Teaching Hospitals, Teaching Hospitals, Large Community Hospitals, Medium Community Hospitals and Small Community Hospitals. | Arkansas STD Rates Are High More Sex Education Needed for Teens, Docs Say In response to a widely reported national study on sexually transmitted diseases in adolescent females, two Arkansas health leaders are calling for increased sexual education in the state.
Researchers this spring announced that about 3.2 million teenage girls in the United States are estimated to have a sexually transmitted disease.
At the 2008 National STD Prevention Conference in Chicago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the study, which estimated that one in four female adolescents in the United States between ages 14 and 19 is infected with at least one of the most common STDs. JENNIFER GILL |

| Doctors Upset over Economic Credentialing Policies Physicians serving two major Arkansas health systems are finding themselves at odds with their hospitals over economic credentialing policies that have, in some cases, drawn national attention.
A lawsuit currently being tried in Little Rock and a newspaper advertisement paid for by an anonymous group of doctors in Fort Smith question whether some hospitals are more concerned about their own financial success than about what’s best for patients. ROBYN JACKSON |
