Recruiters Address Physician Shortage with Diligence
The math is simple: Arkansas is long on patients and short on physicians. The state ranks 48th nationally in physicians per capita, according to data from the Health Resources and Services Administration. Statewide, recruiters are working overtime to draw physicians to the state and keep those that train here working here.

Sometimes getting an F on a report card is a very good thing. If, rather than discouraging the student, that F translates into a renewed focus on improvement, it’s arguably a great catalyst for change. Such is the case with Arkansas’ women’s health services. Physician Spotlight: Dr. Rhonda Gentry
The training wheels are almost off for Dr. Rhonda Gentry. After completing her hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences this June, Gentry will join the private practice of hematologist/oncologist Brad Baltz in Little Rock. Though she’s been studying medicine for the past 10 years, going to medical school was an almost last-minute decision.
